Croeso i Dosbarth 2.
Our topic this term is
"Y Ddraig Coch".
This term we are learning all about Wales. We will be reading the Welsh story called 'Dinas Emrys'. We will be finding out about the Welsh flag and our red dragon, castles, knights, prince, princesses and a Welsh artist called Rhiannon Roberts.
We have already discussed and shared ideas as a whole class as your child's learning is always pupil led. The children hope to learn Welsh folk dancing, make Welsh cakes and cawl and sing some traditional Welsh songs. They have suggested having a 'Reading Cave' in our class and a castle role play area. They would really like to have these areas in our class ready for the friendly visitor that called to see us.
Did you know...
We recently had a very mysterious visitor in our class. The visitor toppled furniture, left bones and burnt paper in our classroom. After lots of thought and discussion the children believe it may be a dragon...possibly a red dragon!
On Tuesday 4th February we will be going on a school trip to Cardiff Castle. This will be a great opportunity for the children. They will have a tour of the castle and a play workshop full of action, games, competitions and storytelling based around the theme of dragons and knights.
*Please ensure books are returned on time and reading record books have a comment written inside. We will then be able to keep sending new books home. Let's work together!
Homework will be sent home as and when to complement work done in class. Homework every term is to read books and learn any additional spellings flashcards that are sent home in book bags.
